The Story
Tom Hanson lives in a quiet little town. He, along with his best friend Ben, love seeking out adventure and fun.
One afternoon, Tom learns that a mysterious package would be delivered to him from a relative living far away. Little does he know that this package will set his life on a course of adventure far greater than he has ever known.
An adventure that will have him meeting strange and wonderful new friends, mysterious events and dangers that will change the course of his life....forever.

I enjoyed The Ponds of Wonder by Brian Abela. The plot is exciting and well-thought out. Each chapter ends with a hook enticing readers to continue.
At the beginning of the story, Tom is excited to receive a package from his great Uncle John who has gone missing. His excitement soon turns to disappointment when he discovers the contents of the package to be a sad and very strange-looking painting. Tom is aghast at the idea of hanging the painting in his room but complies with his mother’s wishes, at least until his grandmother’s visit.
Tom is soon drawn into the strangeness of the painting, and therein his adventure begins.
Tom makes new friends and explores worlds he couldn’t have imagined as he makes new discoveries about himself and battles evil to save his great Uncle John.
Readers will gasp with fear at each turn of the story and cheer Tom on to his heroic conclusion.

The author of this amazing book is Mr Brian Abela. What I loved about the book is that it keeps me excited. I also liked that Tom can enter a secret world that only he and his uncle know about.

What an inspiring story for young readers to lose themselves in! The illustrations add to the mystique and fantasy of the tale! A timeless tale that young people could easily relate to.

"The Ponds of Wonder" is an amazing children's tale. As the story opens, we meet Tom and his best friend, Ben. Early in the story, Tom receives a gift from his great Uncle John. You'll be mesmerized by the story from the start, as Tom begins his extraordinary adventure. Tom's confidence blooms, as he discovers more about himself and his incredible talents. Children will gain several insights from reading this story. For example, they will recall what may happen when one is consumed by greed. They will enjoy the battle of good against evil. It's a tale I highly recommend. Readers will also love the illustrations and lively descriptions throughout this entertaining story.
